Dress for Success Halifax was launched in 2001 by a collective group of community-minded women, who saw the need for the services that were required in the Halifax Regional Municipality. As of the end of 2014, we served more than 1400 clients since the doors opened in 2001. We receive referrals from approximately 45 agencies in HRM, for job-ready clients in our community. What our clients have in common is that they want to work and are ready to make positive change for themselves and their families. However; through challenging circumstances, they may have forgotten, or may never have known, that they are important, valuable members of our community who have a lot to offer potential employers. Dress for Success Halifax suits women for employment, from the inside out.
As a 90% volunteer-driven organization with zero funding dollars, we rely heavily on our volunteer fundraising teams, along with the support of our business partners and regular donors to ensure we are able to continue to serve the women in our community.
The mission of Dress for Success is to promote the economic independence of women by providing work-appropriate attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
Dress for Success has suited more than 1,000,000 women worldwide since our inception in 1997. Dress for Success has affiliate locations in more than 150 cities across the United States, Australia, Canada, Ireland, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, the United Kingdom and the West Indies.
