Happy Here

Happy Here celebrates the landscape of Nova Scotia from an outsider’s perspective — the artist explores the narrative of finding home in a new place, physically embracing the space that so warmly welcomes them. Through playful motifs and iconography, the colourful, radiant culture of Halifax’s North End is hailed, and in turn, greets newcomers and locals with enthusiasm.

The North End of Halifax is located in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people. The people of the Mi’kmaw Nation have lived on this territory for millennia, and we acknowledge them as the past, present and future caretakers of this land.
