As the spooky season approaches, North End Halifax is gearing up to offer a variety of Halloween events that cater to ghosts and ghouls of all ages! From Halloween craft workshops to spooky parties, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Here’s a glimpse of what’s happening in the neighborhood this Halloween season:
Paint & Sip: Halloween Door Mat Workshop
Date: October 9 & 22, 2025

Halloween Event Details: Join Coastal Pigments for a fun and creative night out at Almonak Restaurant on Thursday, October 9th & 22nd, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM!
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll design and paint your very own seasonal doormat—perfect for welcoming guests to your home or gifting to a friend. No experience needed! We’ll provide everything you need, including:
✔️ A doormat ready to customize (two sizes available:
Door mat, natural, 40x60 cm (1'4" x 2'0")
Door mat, natural, 60x90 cm (2'0" x 2'11") )
✔️ A variety of stencils to choose from
✔️ Paints, brushes, and all supplies

The Black Parade Halloween Extravaganza

Halloween Event Details: 🎃👻 Get into the Halloween spirit with Coastal Pigments!
Join us on Tuesday, October 15th, 2025, from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Almonak (5659 Almon St, Halifax, NS) for a spooky, creative, and fun-filled evening of Plaster Ghost Decorating.
These adorable plaster ghosts are hand-crafted by Coastal Pigments and prepared weeks in advance. Each ghost is primed with a white gesso base coat, so they’re ready for you to bring them to life with your own unique style.
✨ What’s Included:
One plaster ghost (additional ghosts available for $20 each)
Use of paints, brushes, and creative supplies
Floral Tissue pape, (you can bring your own decorative tissue paper), and glitter to enhance your design.
Guided tips and techniques from host Zara LeBlanc, artist and owner of Coastal Pigments.
✨ What to Expect:
No experience is needed — just bring your creativity! Whether you want your ghost to be spooky, cute, floral, or glittery, this workshop is all about making it your own. By the end of the night, you’ll have a one-of-a-kind Halloween decoration to proudly display.

Spooky Mi’kmaq Stories

Halloween Event Details: Stories help us learn and connect. The oral tradition of storytelling has always held a significant place in Mi’kmaq culture. This year’s Mi’kmaq History Month theme honours storytelling and the role of storytellers in community. Come and listen to host Savvy as she shares some spooky Mi’kmaq stories! Folks are encouraged to bring a story with them to share as well.
Savvy is from Elsipogtog First Nation and lives in Kjipuktuk. She is an entrepreneur, activist, and public speaker. As the founder of the #SpeakMikmaq campaign, she is a dedicated teacher of the Mi’kmaq language and culture.

Devil’s Island will be officially launching with our first ever Spooktober market! We are so excited to be kicking off at @guspubandgrill October 26th with some incredible local artists, vendors, and performers!
Gus’s Pub has so generously given us this space for no charge so there will be NO door fees for entry. However there will be a donation box available for anyone who would like to contribute to our next Devil’s Island event! 50% of all donations will be going to our local performers who are working so hard to set up our entertainment! The other half will be used to make our next event even better! We appreciate any and all support❤️🔥
